Privacy Policy

Hearthwell (“Hearthwell,” “we,” “us”) is operated by Rankwire LLC. Hearthwell is a free service that connects homeowners with independent chimney contractors. We do not perform home-improvement work ourselves. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use and share it, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
- Information you give us: your name, phone number, email address, ZIP code or project address, and details about your project (such as the service you need, timing, and whether you own the home).
- Information collected automatically: your IP address, device and browser type, pages you visit, the website that referred you, approximate location derived from your IP address, and advertising click identifiers (such as Google’s gclid). We collect this through cookies, pixels, and similar technologies.
- Information from others: contractors may tell us whether they reached you and whether your project moved forward, and advertising partners may provide campaign reporting.
- Consent records: when you submit a form, we keep a record of the consent language shown, the time, and technical details that verify the submission.
How we use information
- To match your request with a contractor who serves your area and share your request with them.
- To contact you about your request by phone, text message, or email.
- To verify submissions and prevent fraud, spam, and abuse.
- To measure and improve our website, service, and advertising.
- To comply with law and enforce our Terms of Use.
How we share information
- Contractors. When you submit a request, we share your contact information and project details with a vetted local pro who serves your area, so they can contact you and provide an estimate. Contractors are independent businesses; their use of your information is governed by their own policies. Contractors may pay us a fee when we share a request with them.
- Service providers that help us run our business, such as website hosting, customer relationship management, call tracking, text messaging, and analytics providers. They may use information only to provide services to us.
- Advertising and analytics partners, such as Google and Meta, through cookies and pixels on our site, to measure ad performance and show relevant ads.
- Legal and safety: when required by law, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Hearthwell, our users, or others.
- Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
Because contractors may pay us when we share a request, and because we use advertising cookies, some state laws may treat these disclosures as a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information. See Your privacy choices.
Text messages
If you agree to receive text messages, Hearthwell and the contractor(s) you are matched with may text you about your request, including with automated technology. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out and HELP for help at any time. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Consent to receive texts is not a condition of any purchase. We do not share or sell your text-messaging opt-in data or consent with any third party for their own marketing purposes.
Cookies and advertising
We use cookies and similar technologies for site functionality, analytics, and advertising. You can control cookies through your browser settings, opt out of Google’s personalized ads at adssettings.google.com, and learn about interest-based advertising choices at optout.aboutads.info. We honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) browser signals as a request to opt out of sale/sharing for that browser.
Your privacy choices and state privacy rights
Depending on where you live (including California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Texas, Oregon, and other states with consumer privacy laws), you may have the right to:
- Know or access the personal information we have about you;
- Correct or delete your personal information;
- Opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of your personal information and of targeted advertising;
- Appeal a decision we make about your request.
To make a request, email hello@hearthwellchimney.com with the subject “Privacy request.” We will verify your request using the contact information you provided and respond within the time required by law. You may use an authorized agent. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
Notice to California residents: in the past 12 months we have collected identifiers (name, phone, email, IP address), internet activity, approximate geolocation, and project information, from the sources and for the purposes described above, and disclosed identifiers and project information to contractors and advertising partners. We do not use or disclose sensitive personal information for purposes that require a right to limit. We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of consumers under 16.
Data retention
We keep personal information as long as needed for the purposes above. We keep consent records for at least five years to show compliance with telemarketing laws, and delete or de-identify other information when it is no longer needed.
Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
Children
Our service is intended for adults 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes
We may update this policy. We will post the new version here with a new effective date.
